Last night, I drove to Boulder and met my friends Allison and Acey and their 10 year old daughter Julia at the Boulder Theater for the Ingrid Michaelson concert. Ju had been bummed out last year when we went to see Ingrid and she didn't get to go, so this time was for her.
Some friends of mine don't like Ingrid's music because they say it's too simple, too cheesy, too cute. Once you go to a show though, you won't be disappointed--it's part comedy act, part great musical performance, part feeling like you're hanging with a friend. In short, delightful.
By far the best part though was belting out the tunes with Julia; absolutely adorable.
And because this weekend also involved talk of spooning, I leave you with these lyrics from "You and I":
Well you might be a bit confused
And you might be a little bit bruised
But baby how we spoon like no one else
So I will help you read those books
If you will soothe my worried looks
And we will put the lonesome on the shelf
Lets get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Lets get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance
Lets get rich and build a house on a mountain making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, you and I
And you might be a little bit bruised
But baby how we spoon like no one else
So I will help you read those books
If you will soothe my worried looks
And we will put the lonesome on the shelf
Lets get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Lets get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance
Lets get rich and build a house on a mountain making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, you and I
